As described at the previous post, Sentinel-2A is a newly launched European Satellite. It was put into orbit by the European Space Agency on 23 June 2015 (view launch video here) and it provides coverage of Earth every 10 days. It has 13 high resolution spectral bands which cover a wide spectral area in visible, near infrared and shortwave infrared at 10, 20 and 60 m spatial resolution.
A clear Sentinel-2A acquisition over Heraklion has been downloaded from SciHub, where Sentinel-2 Level-1C product is available for users. Level-1C product contains the top-of-atmosphere reflectance in digital numbers. Sentinel-2 Level-1C imagery can be viewed and further processed using the Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP). ESA’s Sen2Cor prototype processor was used to atmospherically correct the acquired scene and produce the final Sentinel-2 level-2A product.
